What are you an expert in?

There are some great sayings and quotations. I love this one from Seneca - On the brevity of Life. 18.36. "Believe me, it's better to produce the balance sheet of your own life than that of the grain market".

I would like to share a number with you.

The number is 4160. 4160 is the number of weeks you will enjoy on this planet (or not) if you live to 80 years of age. Now take your age and multiply your age by 52. The number you have is the number of years that have passed. How have you spent those weeks? Have you become an expert in some fantasy football game or celebrity trivia. At the end of your time on this planet, what expertise is going to be more valuable? Your understanding of life or your knowledge of soap operas? Which will help your children more - your insight into happiness the meaning and purpose of life? Or that you followed the breaking news every day of your life.

Become an expert in what really matters.
